From a Republican Party Press Release:
March 9, 2005
President Bush is Leading the Nation on Social Security Reform
Matter of national debate to be discussed among Kentuckians
Frankfort, KY: President Bush will be in Louisville, Kentucky tomorrow to discuss his plan for Social Security reform.
Republicans should be using the word sell not discuss when describing what President is doing in Louisville today.
The audience is hand picked by the Republican Party. Any voice of dissention is being kept two blocks from the building where the President is speaking.
I would applaud if this were a real discussion. If perhaps David M. Walker, head of the nonpartisan Office of Comptroller General, were on the same stage then there might be a thoughtful discussion. Instead we have a staged media event that has the President preaching to the choir.
What a waste of taxpayer money.
