Ryan Alessi in his Political Notebook writes about he defense fund being set up to protect members of the Fletcher administration. Alessi piece looks at Dan Druen, Vince Fields and Cory Meadows, the so called younger ones.
According to the story:
“Some GOP boosters are setting up a defense fund to pay attorney fees for those who have been targeted, specifically the "younger" ones, said Spencer Noe, general counsel of the Republican Party, who is helping form the fund.”
Alessi also quotes Darrell Brock, chairman of the Republican Party, as saying "They've put their life on hold for public service,"
Give me a break Darrell.
I have a real hard time feeling sympathy for these guys. Brock would have you believe they are toiling in the fields of public service for minimum wage. Now I don’t know what these guys make, but if anyone wants to look all it takes is an open records request to the Personnel Cabinet.
However, I can make a guess how much they are making. These guys are working at the Commissioner or Executive Director level. The lowest salary paid at this level is $67,781.28 per year.
However, most people who are brought into these positions start at the mid-point of the salary scale or $89,797.92 per year. Then six months after they start they get an increment of 5%. This takes their salary to $94,287.82.
That’s $94,287.82 of your tax dollars.
In Kentucky, where the per capita personal income is some were just over $28,000 per year, these guys are not wearing sack cloth and ashes.
But for all of you that are feeling sorry for these guys only making about $100 K per year and having to take the 5th because they are nearly destitute send your contribution here.
