The Word Is PUBLIC

Governor Ernie Fletcher on the current investigation of alleged violations of the merit system:

" ‘It's done in such a manner that it's made good people appear evil," he said, adding that it is "Orwellian" for Stumbo's office to obtain administration e-mails and file some of them as public court records.”

Ok Ernie, lets see if I can put this in terms even a Republican Governor can understand;

One, you and the people that work for you are PUBLIC SERVANTS;

Two, the email system, the computer you use and even the desk you sit at are PUBLIC PROPERTY;

Three, your emails are PUBLIC RECORDS. Your own policies state that you have “no expectation of privacy”.

The operative phrase is transparency in government. We elect you, and by your proxy the people you appoint, we, the taxpaying voters of the Commonwealth, have a right to know what you and every other state employee does in their job.
