Yuppie Quota

Once again Senate Republican leader Dan Kelly, of Springfield, has managed to under whelm me with his intellect. Kelly appears to be calling for a quota of republicans to be hired under the merit system.

From the Courier Journal:

" ‘The question is, if the merit system is working as intended then there should be a representative number of Republicans that have been hired in previous administrations,’ Kelly said after the task force's second meeting.”

This is wrong on so many levels but let us just think about the top three.

First, this is the MERIT system. That means people should be hired by ability not by quota. I don’t care what someone’s party affiliation is, I care whether they are competent to do the job and so should Kelly.

Second, with an administration that has as dismal a record for hiring women and minorities, the suggestion of a quota for Republicans is absurd.

Third, the last time I checked there appeared to be high percentage of conservative country club yuppie Republicans in management positions in the Capitol. Do we really need any more; as a matter of fact isn’t their arrogant incompetence how this whole hiring mess started.

What we really need is a quota to hire more 53 year old white guys who are retired state employees and publish a blog. I think I know one who qualifies
