Like any besieged petty tyrant that has led his people to ruin, Ernie Fletcher now begins sacrificing the palace guard.
Fletcher has fired nine loyalists from his administration and has called for the resignation of Kentucky Republican Party Chairman Darrell Brock, while beseeching Attorney General Greg Stumbo to “bury the hatchet”.
Apparently, everyone except Ernie “the buck stops here” Fletcher is responsible for this mess.
When this investigation began I never thought the final result would be the indictment of the governor, just because it is nearly impossible to indict a sitting governor of crimes committed in office.
I’ve changed my mind.
Ernie is scared of something, first the pardons, then the resignations of two top administration lackeys, now we have 9 top people fired and the governor turning on his own hand picked party chairman.
Fletcher’s political career is over. Politically speaking, he’s a dead man walking.
The real question now is whether his first and only term in office will be over before we see the end to this melodrama?
