Pimping the Party of Faith and Values
In her book Sacred Contacts, Caroline Myss makes the following point:
“The Prostitute thrives most bountifully in subtle ways and in ordinary, everyday circumstances. It comes into play most clearly when our survival is threatened. Its core issue is how much you are willing to sell of yourself – your morals, your integrity, your intellect, your word, your body, or your soul (emphasis added)– for the sake of physical security…….If you have faith, no one can buy you. You know that you can take care of yourself and also that he Devine is looking out for you. Without faith, however you will eventually meet the price you cannot turn down.”
In today’s Herald Leader, John Cheves profiles Sen. Mitch McConnell and his politics of Money and Power in the first of a four part series.
"I am going to teach you the three things you need to build a political party," he (McConnell) said, and backed away to reveal the words: "Money, money, money."
……..He's completely dogged in his pursuit of money. That's his great love, above everything else," said Marshall Whitman, who watched McConnell as an aide to Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and as a Christian Coalition lobbyist.”
For the political junkie, Cheves offers little new information. But I certainly hope that all of the Faith and Values Republicans that vote for Mitch McConnell take the time to read and think about the man that represents them and Kentucky.
