Advice for Stan Lee

From the Herald-Leader letters to the editor:

"Advice for legislator
Has anyone noticed how every time an issue that concerns the gay and lesbian community comes up, state Rep. Stan Lee's face is all over the news?

In fact, he seems to be more concerned about gays than Jerry Falwell or Pat Robertson is.
My grandmother would have described him as having "gay on the brain." It sort of makes you wonder.

A bit of political advice for Lee: Get off the gay community's back.

And, lose the mustache, it makes you look sort of like the Village People's construction worker.

Angela Hammond
Versailles "

Now I find this letter to be unfair. Yes, I can see where Angela could think Stan’s mustache does make him look one of the Village People, but a man has the right to wear any look he wants.

I understand Stan’s pain here. Among the nicer things I’ve been called is Yuppie and Howard Dean’s conjoined twin. I’ve even been taken to task over how I tie my necktie. The comment was something to effect of “effete liberal British snob….” You sort of get the drift.

Anyway, if Stan wants to adopt a look that time-warps into the ‘70’s more power to him.

Besides I’ve been told, by women, that some women find the look sexy.
