You Can Be Too NIce

First, Jim Keller is a gentleman. He’s the kind of guy that will tell you where he stands on the issues. He is probably too nice of a guy to be in the Kentucky Senate.

Second, Alice Forgy Kerr is a nice lady that a lot of people like. She’s a great south Lexington soccer mom, but a lousy State Senator. She won’t tell you where she stands on the issues.

From the Herald-Leader:

“And in Lexington Sen. Alice Forgy Kerr has maintained a "double digit" lead in the polls over former Supreme Court Justice James Keller, (Senate President David) Williams said.”

So when is someone really going to challenge Alice on her record?

When is someone going to dig into her links to the Republican corruption in Washington?

When is someone going to talk about her close ties to indicted Governor Ernie Fletcher?

When is someone going to draw a comparison to her Alice and her brother Larry and his loony ideas?

When will the Democrats actually field a candidate that wants to work at being State Senator? They didn’t do it Derrick Hord and they don’t appear to have done it with Jim Keller.

It’s one thing to be a nice guy and have name recognition, but sometimes you have to get out there and smack you opponent in the mouth, even if she is a soccer mom people like.

Desperate Times Call for Stupid Comments

This one falls under the say anything category, someone might believe it.

From the Herald-Leader:

“Mayor Teresa Isaac went on the attack yesterday, trying to tie challenger Jim Newberry to Vice Mayor Mike Scanlon. Isaac said Scanlon couldn't get elected mayor himself, so he was trying to buy the election for Newberry.…….Newberry said Isaac went on the attack because she knows she's behind.

"She's desperate," Newberry said.”

I have to agree with Newberry.

The only election Mike Scanlon every bought was his own election to the LFUCG Council. Scanlon spent $115,422.30 of his own money to get elected to the Council.

As for contributions to Newberry, Scanlon and his wife have personally donated the same amount to Tom Blues in his campaign for the seat in the 2nd District.

This sort of wild claim by Teresa just turns off voters that are exhausted by the constant bickering between the Mayor and the Council. It is just plain politically stupid to do this.
