Union Busting

I will be the first to concede that unions aren’t perfect, that sometimes bad teachers hide under the cloak of tenure and the merit system has some protected employees that should be fired.
But Phil Moffett’s solution is one simple answer to what is a whole series of complex managerial

questions.

“We need to peel back the things we can’t afford like prevailing wage laws. We need to make Kentucky a right to work state. And we need to end teacher tenure and the state merit system.”

Again, a simple easy to understand wrong answer.

Senate Puts Term Limits Back

Senator David Williams and the Kentucky Senate put the term limits on members and the chair that would immediately remove 4th term trustees Bobby Henson and Randy Overstreet from the Kentucky Retirement Systems board. While the House committee stripped the term limits out last week the Senate put them back in.

This poses some interesting questions:

Is David Williams trying to imply that he is for term limits and cleaning up KRS, while the House is not? Will Williams use it in his campaign that he is for cleaning up KRS with term limits and Beshear is not?

Williams did attach this good government legislation to his horrible SB 2 so it will not see the light of day in the House.? Could the House do the right thing and send back the original HB 480 with term limits back to the Senate? Even then does the Senate really care about good government, or are they just bashing public employees?
