Sometimes a reporter grabs anyone they can to get a quote for a story. And sometimes a politician will say anything to get his name in print.
I don’t which category the following quote falls in, but I’ve talked to Jack Brammer and to Bill Farmer in the past and my guess is the latter category.
From the Herald Leader:
"I hope Mr. Stumbo will have detailed information about the cost of this thing with his new Kentucky Bureau of Investigation when he comes before the legislature next year and talks about his office's budget," said Rep. Bill Farmer, R-Lexington.
Bill Farmer is going to hold Greg Stumbo accountable. I wish Bill would tell us which of the three committees he sits on is going to review Stumbo’s budget. Is it the Education Committee, or the Labor and Industry Committee, or maybe it’s the Seniors, Military Affairs and Public Safety Committee?
I guess the Seniors, Military Affairs and Public Safety Committee could look at budget for Attorney General’s office, but my guess is that Appropriations and Revenue Committee chaired by Greg Stumbo’s friend Harry Moberly (Harry you need a new picture) will do the budget review.
Farmer’s greatest claim to fame remains that he shares the name of Lexington City Councilman Bill Farmer. His lackluster career in the Legislature isn’t enhanced by ignorant comments like the one above.
Of course we have to ask why Jack Brammer and the editors of the Herald Leader even quote Farmer in the first place.
