I’m glad to see that Governor Fletcher could take some time from the golf course to defend his buddy Murg.
Ernie appears to have made a serious commitment, two or three rounds per week, to work on his handicap at the Frankfort Country Club. But maybe all that time in the sun on the golf course has caused a little confusion.
Again resorting to the “everyone does it” defense, I remember my daughter using that one at the age of 10, Ernie has admitted to some management mistakes.
From the Courier Journal:
“ ‘In interviews yesterday, Fletcher said "management mistakes" were made but insisted they were not on purpose. He said all administrations, including his, make mistakes.”
“….To break a law, you have to be intentional," he told reporters at a stop in Paintsville. "As far as I know, no one broke a law because there wasn't a willful act to violate the merit system.’"
Let’s see, five guys indicted, hit lists, computer files erased, stonewalling the Attorney General, dumbing down qualifications for position to get politically correct individuals hired, sure sounds like a mistake to me.
How could anyone think there was a willful act here?
Maybe the real question is whether the voting public of the Commonwealth is stupid enough to believe Ernie Fletcher?

Farmer for Mayor
Fifth District City Councilman Bill Farmer is running for mayor. Farmer, the Republican candidate for mayor of Lexington, has begun his campaign for mayor by appealing to the Republican powers that be for money and support.
For those of you that think the race for mayor, and city council positions, in Lexington is non-partisan I’ve got sad news for you, they’re not.
Farmer with deep ties to the Community and with the deep pockets of local Republicans will be a formidable candidate. He has demonstrated a skill at political tight rope walking during the water company battle. I’m not sure even Farmer knows which side he is on.
However, by making his first appeal to the Republican faithful, Farmer has effectively stripped the veil of non-partisanship from the election.
Let’s hope his perspective is a little wider than the lock-stepping anti-government view that dominates the Republican Party today. Perhaps his brother-in-law Brian will be a moderating democratic influence.
Probably not, who ever listens to their brother-in-law.
