After reading the coverage of the Fancy Farm Picnic from the Courier Journal and the Herald Leader I come to one conclusion. There is only one major politician in this state that has enough common sense and class to be Governor.
From the Herald Leader:
“After the speeches, state auditor Crit Luallen remarked that the tenor in Frankfort has gradually deteriorated and clearly spilled over into yesterday's speeches.
She said the state will suffer if that continues.
‘What we are seeing and hearing here," she said, "is taking all our energy.’ "
At least Crit seems to have grasped what the fallout from Fletcher’s hiring scandal and the subsequent cover-up will do to the Commonwealth.
While I have often thought that Crit could do more with the Auditor’s Office in protecting the taxpayers of the state, she does appear to be the only one actually thinking past personal or partisan political gain in this mess.
At this point in time I know who would get my vote for Governor.

Sign Of The Times

The sign shown above, was sitting on Man O’ War Blvd at the Clays Mill intersection. The sing is a hand letter copy of a bumper sticker that has been floating around for while and is, of itself, rather unremarkable.
The remarkable thing is that it is sitting in one of the most conservative Bush supporting Republican areas of Lexington.
Maybe, just maybe, people are starting to ask, "What are we really gaining by being in Iraq?"
