From the Herald Leader:
“FRANKFORT - Gov. Ernie Fletcher expressed disappointment yesterday that Secretary of State Trey Grayson did not tell him in advance of Grayson's consideration to run for governor next year.
"Frankly, I was disappointed. He should have given me a heads-up on that. That would have been the respectful thing to do," Fletcher told reporters at an impromptu news conference.”
What a whiner.
Respect is earned Ernie, not demanded.
And while I do think the office of Secretary of State should be an appointed position it’s not. Trey Grayson is a constitutionally elected official answerable to the people not the Governor.
"Asked whether Grayson should have told Fletcher in advance about his Fancy Farm remarks, (Les) Fugate (a spokesman for Grayson) said, "The governor doesn't let us know about his intentions.
"He didn't call to let us know who his running mate was going to be or any of those other decisions. So it's not necessarily something that we need to do as well."
Politics is always a two way street. Ernie and his crew have never and apparently will never understand this, even in their own party.

Perspective
Everything is a matter of perspective. One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.
On a more mundane and perhaps pungent note, one man’s stockyard is another man’s “ag marketing center”.
“This is the most positive thing I've seen out of this (industrial park) project," said council member Dale Benson. "You can barely see Midway from the site. It's going to be a good thing for local farmers."
I just have to wonder if Dale took a deep breath before he made that comment.
