Kentucky Gives Away $8.4 Billion

Today’s Herald Leader has a column by Larry Dale Keeling repeating several of the sad truths about the tax laws in Kentucky that this blog has already talked about.

Keeling hits on several truths.

David Williams is one huge impediment to tax reform.

Steve Beshear
will never push for tax reform.

There are too many exceptions to the tax law and more coming every legislative session, including the one we are in currently. If you got rid of the deductions, credits and exemptions you could lower all the tax rates on all taxes for all Kentuckians.

But I disagree with one thing Keeling said when he calls tax reform a "lost cause". It is not a lost cause but politicians are like mules, sometimes you need to hit them between the eyes with a figurative 2 by 4 to get their attention,

Here’s how you get their attention right now, vote for the guys that are saying we need to do something about taxes.

Republicans need to vote for Phil Moffett in the primary election. Everyone needs to vote for Gatewood Galbraith in the general election. Loosing an election is the biggest 2 by 4 you can find for a politician.
